Simdo Hotel & Spa Sillim by Anook

Standing all day at work had left my legs aching and me stressed, so I went online and booked a staycation. I was surprised to find a Japanese-style hotel in Sinlim. The tatami mats and tea ceremony set made up for that, and the half-bath at the spa eased all the day’s tiredness. This feels like a real bargain for a Seoul staycation. Just bring your own comb, since they don’t provide one.

I picked this place in Sinlim for a date with my girlfriend, though I don’t usually expect much from accommodation. The ryokan feel here changed my mind. We sat in the private spa tub with music on, and the room felt like its own little world. I make noise all the time in my studio, so the quiet was a nice change. It sounds a bit paradoxical, but the calm actually gave me ideas. Maybe next time I’ll come back by myself to work.

The staff were friendly, and the room was clean, so it worked well for a one-night stay. The bedding was fresh and the soft bed let me sleep well. The bathrobe was soft, though a little heavy. The towels felt old and rough, which was a shame. There was a slight sewer smell from the bathroom, but it didn’t spread into the room.

It was clean and quiet, with friendly service and a convenient location for getting around. I’d like to come back.
