Dongdaemun Hwashin Hostel

I wasn't upset with her as a person. What bothered me was how she made the request. Guests need to ask permission before sending anything here, since we don't normally store mail or courier packages in case they go missing. If someone agrees to the risk, I can keep a parcel, but I don't want to lose time or money because of a delivery mistake. On August 29, she emailed to say a package was on its way and asked me to hold it. I replied that the process was wrong: she should have asked before sending it, not afterward. I then asked her to cancel the reservation. She had booked two stays, August 15-19 and September 6-9. If my wife and I had treated her badly, she could have canceled the September booking after checking out on August 19, but she didn't. She canceled after I refused her request on August 29. For a check-in after midnight, guests have to get the hotel's agreement on the day of arrival after booking, and pay an extra 20,000 KRW. This is stated on the site where this hostel is listed. The room was a good size, with a private bathroom, and everything was clean. The kitchen was only for reheating food in the microwave, though, with no cooking allowed. There were a lot of rules at check-in. The owner said people often do laundry there but have to take it to an outside laundry room to dry, since the available dryer is tiny. He'd also knock on our door to ask us to keep it down if we spoke a little loudly around 8:30 in the morning or 10 at night. Make of that what you will.

The owner was really nice, and the room was clean and cozy in winter with its floor heating. It's an especially handy place for a solo traveler: under five minutes from Baiton Hotel, where airport bus 6001 from Incheon stops. I'd definitely book here again on another visit.

The boss was so sweet and helped us a lot, even carrying our luggage upstairs since there isn't an elevator. The room was comfortable and warm in winter, and the price felt very fair for a spot this close to metro and bus stops. I stayed five nights and had no complaints. Highly recommend!
