THAT House - Hostel

This place is basic, but you get about what you pay for. It's functional and reasonably located if you're not expecting anything fancy. The building feels old and a bit run down, including the grounds. The toilet was a recurring hassle because the sewage system seemed to clog often. Amenities were sparse, with complimentary essentials kept at reception instead of in the room. Depending on where your room is, expect to climb two or three flights of stairs, which isn't great with luggage.

The female host was very kind, and doing your own laundry costs 3,000 Won. The place is near the metro and shopping areas. We had a private room with its own bathroom, but the bed was a bunk, and the top bunk was extremely uncomfortable. Our room stayed damp all the time. We hung up two nice shirts, and by the next day they felt moist. It badly needs a dehumidifier, and that alone means I wouldn't stay here again. You can't eat in the room, either. The two very small towels per person each day have to do for everything, since there are no hand or floor towels. The bathroom wall is steamed glass, so you can partly see the other person on the toilet or in the shower. Awkward. I wouldn't recommend the private rooms.

The rooms were nice, the beds comfortable, and everything was clean. The staff were friendly, and they let us store our luggage. I only stayed one night, but I'd definitely come back. It's super convenient for Hongdae Station, the airport line, and the main streets of Hongdae. Plenty for a backpacker.

The shower rooms were great and had everything you need, and our room was clean with a bunk bed. But the upper mattress was extremely thin, so I could feel the metal bars underneath and it was really uncomfortable. The walls were also thin enough that we heard people arriving, leaving, and showering. We were a bit unlucky with noisy neighbors during our three-night stay. The staff were nice, though they weren't around very often. Everything else was fine for a hostel.
