I used to think this was a decent place because the manager was nice, but the owner is cheap and seems to want every dime. I was a regular, staying for weeks or even months a few times a year. Even so, she insisted I pay a lot extra for parking, despite that being part of the deal for a long stay. I found somewhere else and won’t consider coming back or recommending it to anyone.

Seeing Seochon Village lose its old-fashioned charm left me feeling bitter. Development can be good, but shouldn’t it be the kind that doesn’t compromise Korean culture? Cafes are popping up everywhere with no sense of Korean identity, and fusion restaurants fill the streets instead of preserving the traditional atmosphere. It’s sad that foreign visitors might now see this traditional Korean village as simply a place that has lost its national identity.
