The Square Hostel Jongno

The location was the only good thing about this hotel. The room was literally 4sqm, barely enough to move around in, and the shower is connected to the sink, so it floods easily and feels really uncomfortable. There’s a huge illuminated emergency exit sign over the door that made it impossible to sleep unless we covered it with dark clothes. With every other light off, it felt like being at a concert. So annoying. There was no service or staff working during the day, only from 15 to 22hrs. They offered no help with our bags, just a 'bag-garage' outside the building where pickpockets could easily steal them. One of my worst hotel experiences. Please avoid this place.

Really bad. The room has a slanted wall, and the bathroom has no separate shower area and smells like smoke.

The common areas were clean, and there’s a small food-scrap container beside the sink. The unit-style shower wets the floor on the toilet side, though they provide toilet slippers. There are four outlets in three spots, and they’re all Korean SE type. You don’t seem to hear conversations through the walls, but sounds like something dropping or water running upstairs do carry. You can leave luggage before or after check-in, but it’s at the back of the parking area outside, secured with a flimsy coil cord and padlock. There are security cameras, though I’d hesitate to leave valuables or purchases I didn’t want stolen. In the room, suitcases only fit open on the bed or in the entrance area. For a two-night, three-day stay, they didn’t change the bed linen or clean the room. Maybe that’s different for longer stays? Towels and trash were taken care of daily. For the nearest station, the elevator is near Exit 8 of Jongno 3-ga Station on Line 3. The escalator seems to be at Exit 4 of Jongno 3 Station on Line 5, but I’m not sure.
