I stayed three nights in a Deluxe Room after worrying about all the negative reviews, and it turned out to be not so bad. The room was spacious and clean, somewhere between new and old. A few small annoyances: the receptionist wasn't very friendly or chatty, hot water took about 5-10 minutes, and there was no toothbrush. You have to ask the receptionist for cleaning, otherwise they won't clean the room. I'm not too fussy, and the price is really good, so I'd give it four stars.

Mosquitos and bugs were around all night, and my partner and I both woke with lots of bites that lasted for days. That made an already poor three-night stay even more unpleasant. At check-in, the room didn't seem properly cleaned. It hadn't been vacuumed, there was hair on the bed, and the washroom had dirty surfaces and poor drainage. I was extremely disappointed with the whole experience.

The rooms were okay, but we had to deal with roaches. At check-in, the front desk staff were rude and seemed to be sleeping on the job. Whenever I asked for something, I felt like I was bothering them. It was a bad experience all around.

The room felt pretty standard and classic, and there's a parking lot on site. Getting around is easy, with Dongdaemun fashion town right across the street. I was happy with the front desk clerk's service. Despite our concerns, they could speak English. Maybe other languages too, but I'm not sure.

I stayed for three nights on a business trip. Hotel Vatica, also known as Samho hotel, sits in central Seoul, with subway and bus access to anywhere. I'd suggest checking in on the 5th floor rather than the 7th.
