Zip Hotel

A good, hassle-free hotel for couples or solo travelers. The room was clean and the bed reasonably comfortable. We didn’t use the AC because the room temperature, 15 degrees C, was already comfortable for us. It’s within walking distance of the green train line, a 7-11, a vape shop, places to eat, and a bakery. Paris Baguette had fantastic bagels and sandwiches. The staff were friendly and spoke English.

The hotel is a good resting point for a sightseeing trip. The area is lively, with lots of locals out enjoying the day and night, and Seoul’s transport system makes getting around easy. I found it better connected than any city I’ve visited in Europe. The hotel isn’t right in the center, but the location is still very good. It’s affordable and seems to get local guests for one-night stays. The rooms aren’t anything special, but mine was very clean. The reception staff were super nice. They don’t really speak English, but they’re happy to help with anything, and Google Translate made it easy for me. I had a really nice stay and don’t think it deserves the bad Google Maps reviews I’d seen. I wouldn’t suggest it for a particularly romantic trip or if you want the highest level of comfort. For that, you’d need to spend a bit more.

Be careful, I wouldn’t book this “hotel.” We booked three nights for more than $100 per night without realizing from the ad what kind of place it was. It seemed to be a hotel people use for quick sex, and condoms were provided. We felt extremely unsafe and left for another hotel after the first night. We got no refund and lost the money. The room had no furniture, though the bed and bathroom were clean. Neither the air conditioning nor the heater worked at all. There are other reviews mentioning cigarette smells and similar issues. Breakfast has to be prepared in a disgusting room outside the hotel. They only had noodle soup, toast, and coffee, which isn’t worth more than $3. We didn’t eat there. No one spoke English, and the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful.

My mom and I came to Korea for the first time in a long time and stayed here for two nights while hotel hopping to manage the cost. I don’t recommend it to anyone, especially solo travelers or families with kids. It felt like a place for one-night stands, not a family-friendly hotel. The location is okay, near a subway station and restaurants, but the hotel itself was awful. Every room reeked of cigarettes, and opening the windows didn’t help. After my first night I had three bug bites, so I’m sure there were bed bugs. The toilet seat had strange stains, the blankets did too, and the towels didn’t smell clean. Other guests were extremely loud. Do NOT come here.
