Ziyolk Myeongdong

There’s a washer and dryer, and although the room has a fridge, it’s only for lightly cooling things and has no freezer. The shared fridge that used to be on the third floor is gone. There were just two regular towels, and I would have liked a bath towel. This was my first visit since the hotel changed its name from K-POP Residence. The reception on the second floor was the same, but they’ve added a kiosk, and the room layout seemed to have changed too. I booked the cheapest single room. It was very small and had no window, but there was enough space under the bed for my suitcase, so it worked fine for an overnight stay. The floor space was about half a tatami mat. I can accept the space used by the shower toilet. For this price, it’s a great place to stay in Myeongdong, so I plan to keep using it.

The hotel is a bit tucked away, though the elevator made getting there with suitcases easy. By the second-floor counter, there’s a luggage scale you can use for free, plus an unmanned check-in and check-out machine and a water dispenser, which came in handy. Our triple room had a single bed and a bunk bed. It was small, but three of us could manage comfortably over two nights and three days. The reception staff usually spoke Japanese, so asking questions felt easy. There were toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a hairdryer, and a fridge. The TV had Netflix and YouTube, including Japanese dramas, films, and anime. The shower and toilet shared one room, which was inconvenient, though I understand that’s common in Korea. It was glass enclosed right beside the single bed, so you could hear someone using the toilet. There was no lock, and the door didn’t shut properly. We could borrow a power adapter, but it didn’t fit the room’s outlets and kept slipping out, so it was no use.
