Yehadoye Guesthouse

We’d never stayed in a shared guesthouse before and were unsure about it, but we were impressed. Seoul accommodation is expensive, so the good price was what got us to try this place, and the positive reviews helped. The shared toilets were spotless, with enough of them that we never had to wait. The kitchen was clean and well equipped too. Our room was basic, but that was fine for the price. The walls were thin, but everyone was respectful, so we didn’t hear the neighbors. If you want to save money, I’d have no hesitation staying here.

I traveled alone in Korea for the first time and felt very safe here. It was quiet, each floor had a bathroom, and there was a full kitchen with access to a fridge. The location was perfect, close to several subway lines. The owners were kind, spoke English, and were happy to answer questions about getting around. Really nice and accommodating.

Be careful booking here as a couple. I reserved a double room for two adults through Agoda, and my confirmation clearly showed both guests. The booking was non-refundable. I couldn’t add my wife’s name in the Agoda app, so I contacted the hotel through Agoda to have it added. They replied that two people could stay, but they would charge another W20,000 KRW per night for the second person. That extra fee was unexpected and hadn’t been disclosed for a double room booked for two. I contacted Agoda support and showed them the confirmation. Agoda tried to mediate, but the guesthouse still insisted on the additional charge. Fortunately, Agoda eventually canceled my non-refundable booking without a fee and refunded me via AgodaCash, so I could find somewhere else. If you plan to stay here, especially as a couple, you may face substantial extra charges that weren’t disclosed. That money would likely go further at a much nicer place.

Just off Insadong Street, this was a great place to stay. The rooms are small but comfortable. There are laundry machines on the roof, and you should be ready for stairs.
