Cafe RR became our favorite place for a coffee or beer after a hike, and Jeonju Korea's hot stone vegetable bibimbap was a meal we really loved. Buses run often to both Sokcho and the nearby park, which made getting around easy. The town is quiet and peaceful, and after walking the trails it was lovely to return to a cozy, comfortable room at Smile Resort. The place feels beautiful and welcoming, thanks in large part to the lovely woman who runs it and makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. Breakfast was a treat too, especially the roasted chestnuts. A great base for exploring the area's nature.

The quiet mountain hideaway feeling worked for us, even with lots of nearby buildings closed. There's a good Korean chicken restaurant down the road, plus a cute dog and a sweet, smiley older woman at reception. Amazing stay, just stay here.
