Sota Suite Yang Yang Granbay

The lifts were the hardest part of my stay at Granbay by Sota. They move painfully slowly, and when lots of guests are using them they get crowded, which was frustrating at busy times. The self check-in, by contrast, was easy and futuristic. My door passkey came straight to my phone, so getting in was quick and contactless. Up on the roof, the swimming pool has a fantastic sea view. I loved looking out at the horizon, though Sunday evening was so packed that it spoiled the relaxed atmosphere. I hope it’s quieter on weekdays, because it would be lovely to enjoy that spot in peace. The room was clean, well kept, and modern, with practical, up to date bedding and bathroom fixtures. Breakfast had a nice range of dishes, but the coffee wasn’t as rich or good as I’d expect at a hotel like this. The place has style, comfort, and great views, but those slow elevators get in the way. With some patience around the crowds, it can still be a good stay, especially if you want a rooftop pool and modern conveniences.

I spent the second week of my two-week Yangyang trip at Yangyang Grand Bay, after staying at another hotel for the first week. It was so convenient and clean, and the ocean was nearby. I could see the sunrise from my room and walk to Naksansa Temple right next door. Downtown was just a five-minute drive away, so I got to enjoy Yangyang fully. There were lots of nice cafes and restaurants around, and having food delivered to the room was a real bonus. I’ll come back on my next trip to Gangwon-do!

We’ve been bringing the family to Yangyang and Sokcho at least twice a year since the kids were little, and we all love Yangyang. This winter trip, we found a hotel just a minute from Naksan Beach, and it felt like discovering a second home we’d want to visit often. Our reservation was for a mountain view, but they upgraded us to Half City, with a clear ocean view from the room. We also got to watch a beautiful winter sunrise right in front of the hotel. The room was very clean and tidy when we arrived, though the bedding looks a little uneven in the photos I took before checkout. It was quiet, and the shower water left my skin feeling smooth. The kids and the rest of my family were happy, so we’ll stay here again. Mobile keys and checkout were new to us, and we loved how convenient they were. The staff were friendly, especially the breakfast team. Breakfast was tasty and good quality, with Korean food, croffles, bread, fruit, and other treats, enough for the kids to have a full meal. We had fun at the arcade and karaoke, and even the convenience store owner on the first floor was welcoming. Everyone made our stay pleasant. We’d read complaints about the elevators, but they weren’t too bad for us. We stayed from Saturday to Monday and used them on both weekend and weekday. With three cars running continuously, we got on quickly. The place also had plenty of other things we liked. Please keep running it this way, we highly recommend it!
