This boutique hotel is on the Gulf road, with several successful food and other outlets that draw plenty of customers. There’s a men’s hairdresser and a small fragrance kiosk in the lobby. The rooms are well appointed, and the staff are friendly, which has earned the hotel a strong reputation.

The atmosphere was friendly, and the staff were helpful, so I would recommend this hotel. Still, sleeping in late was difficult. There were too many knocks and shouts at the door, first for the newspaper, then housekeeping, then the minibar check. I wish they’d been more discreet and remembered that guests need time to relax and recharge.

Breakfast had lots of variety and plenty of options, and the staff were always friendly and ready to help. The hotel is only a 20-minute drive from the airport in Kuwait City, so there’s no need to rush to catch a flight. My room had a big screen TV, which was great for watching the Rugby World Cup semi-finals between NZ Vs SA and AUS Vs ARG. The location is lovely, with a beach view and a chance to walk along the beach road. The room, toilet, and washroom were spacious, with nice furniture and beds.

The room was small, and the bathroom was so cramped that the door wouldn’t open properly. The window looked out onto some construction and debris. Maybe that’s normal for a two- or three-star hotel, but it’s bad for one rated four stars. I’d give it three stars only because it’s close to the bay and beach. As soon as we arrived, our residence was changed and the hotel was offered to their company.

It wasn’t the pleasant stay I expected. The rooms weren’t cleaned well, and the towel was too old and not white enough. The staff didn’t seem well trained to meet hospitality standards, and they had no knowledge of the area around the hotel.
