Apple hostel

Not set up for tourists, in my view. It was hard to find, the beds were dirty, people I didn't know were sleeping in the common room, and there were no quiet hours.

We were promised the only double room from noon the day after we arrived, so we agreed to spend one night in the eight-bed dorm. The room never opened up, though, and finding another hotel at that point would have been difficult and complicated. We had to stay in the dorm reluctantly. We complained, but nobody listened. The staff apologized, but that didn't help. The place keeps adding beds to shared areas. One evening, at 9 PM, there were two Smurfs and a table in the hallway; by 10, those had been replaced with another bed. The veranda had clotheslines one day, then more lines and laundry at the entrance the next, along with new beds on the veranda. That means far more people sharing the common spaces than expected, with crowded, often unclean bathrooms and a packed kitchen full of people cooking. It feels like revenue comes before guests' peace and comfort, even though the staff can be kind and helpful. There are some positives: it's affordable, close to the subway, has a kitchen, and the staff are friendly. But people who put money ahead of their guests don't deserve applause.

For what we paid, it was decent enough. We stayed three days and wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. It worked fine as a place to sleep overnight, which was all we needed from the hostel.
