I spent a while here during my time in Almaty, and it was always comfortable to come back after exploring, hiking in the mountains, or working on photos. The atmosphere worked well whether I wanted company or some quiet time to myself. The rooms and shared areas were consistently clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, with many of the city's main sights, cafes, and restaurants within walking distance, while the area itself is quieter. I'd gladly stay here again on another visit to Almaty.

The place matched the photos on booking.com and everything was clean. My only real issue was the AC being off. It got a bit hot with the capsule door closed, and the two fans weren't enough for me. Otherwise, things were fine. A noisy neighbor can be a problem, like me sorting things outside my capsule and making zipper and plastic sounds with my luggage. Julia and Valeria were helpful with anything I needed. One laundry wash cycle costs 2000 kzt.

The location was excellent and the staff were attentive and flexible. KALION HOSTEL was wonderfully clean too. I had a great stay and highly recommend it.

I wouldn't recommend this hostel. I found it on booking and liked the price, so I called to check the details. They offered to reserve it outside booking, and I agreed. On the day I arrived, I got a message saying the price would be higher than we'd agreed. 👎
