Sadu Hotel

The mountain view was lovely, and the room was roomy and comfortable. Sadu Hotel Almaty was clean, modern, and peaceful during our few nights there. The staff were friendly. It’s a little far from the city centre, but works well for a quiet stay.

We stayed five nights in late March. I’d been unsure after seeing mixed reviews, but our stay was mostly positive. The rooms were clean and spacious, and we got the connecting rooms we’d requested. A nice surprise was that staff let us eat outside food in the reception area and gave us plates, glasses, and ice for free. The hotel is a bit far from downtown, with little to do nearby beyond a mall about a 12-minute walk away. That mall mostly has expensive, high-end shops. For more affordable stores, a supermarket, and several places to eat, Mega Mall (Alma-Ata) is about a 10-15 minute taxi ride away. Taxis here are quite affordable. The hotel mainly serves group travelers from the Middle East. During the busy Eid holiday period, breakfast was chaotic for the first couple of days. The choices were limited and repeated daily, food ran out quickly, and the visibly irritated staff struggled with the crowds. It got better later, but one morning our request for a packed breakfast before an early trip was completely missed, so we left without anything. Despite the location and breakfast issues, it was more or less comfortable. I’d give it four stars.

The spa was amazing. I felt so relaxed, and my skin was really smooth afterward. We had a sauna, massage, and scrub, and I highly recommend it. The staff were extremely friendly, and the attention to detail was great.

Check-in was easy, and the front desk team were helpful throughout my stay. The room was spacious, with great amenities, a comfortable bed and pillows, and even a very comfy chair. The bathroom was large and had a tub. Breakfast was okay, including a section for local specialties. I tried a few, and their taste was interesting :)) The area around the hotel seems fairly new and is pleasant to walk around, but there isn’t much nearby. A large mall is across the road, but a highway runs between it and the hotel, so I think you can only get there by car. I didn’t have a ride-hailing app, so I asked the hotel staff for help. Taxis are very affordable, but if you pay cash, keep in mind that the driver may not have change.
