Jelsomino Hotel Astana

The hotel itself was quite dirty, and the breakfast was bad, cold, and felt like a scam. It was supposed to be a boutique hotel, but when I entered the room it hadn't been properly cleaned; there were strands of hair from the previous occupants. The carpet was dirty too, and when I told the cleaner, she snapped at me.

I wouldn't recommend room 11, especially if you need somewhere to work and sleep. We stayed for more than 10 days, and it wasn't a pleasant room. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all, even though before booking we'd called to ask if it could handle YouTube or websites and the staff member said yes. I ended up using mobile data in the room. They also didn't give us a receipt, so make sure you get one to avoid deposit issues at checkout. Noise was the main problem. The restaurant on the first floor ran until 3 a.m., and its broken door made a huge bang every second or minute until they finished. I thought it was an earthquake. There was also an unexplained high-pitched sound that happened randomly around the clock and wore my ears out. I could only sleep with earplugs. We spoke to the front desk, but nothing changed, even after seven days. The room wasn't soundproof either; we could hear neighbours talking and sounds from the passageway. Cleaning could have been better, with lots of dust on the table. Most of the furniture was old, as were the towels and pillow covers. I'd never seen a pillow cover with a hole before. Breakfast was ordinary, nothing special and almost the same each day, low quality for the price.

The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, and they’d even provided bathroom basics like a toothbrush. Paying by MasterCard was no problem. The only frustration was breakfast on our last morning: we waited over 40 minutes, even though there were only five other guests there. The hotel was otherwise okay.

We found it peaceful and comfortable, a nice place to unwind after sightseeing. The city centre location worked well, the staff were friendly, and everything was clean. Breakfast was tasty and the coffee was good, all at a reasonable price. Nothing to complain about. Jelsomino Boutique Hotel is a great option in Nursultan (Astana).
