We were eight in the family and booked four rooms, which worked well for an overnight stop in Shymkent. It was easy to get a Yandex ride, and the owner was kind enough to hold our luggage during the day. An electric kettle for hot water in each room would be the one improvement I'd suggest.

The location was really good, but our room smelled awful. Honestly, the sewage odor was sickening.

My room was very clean and tidy. The staff seemed rather shy, and while the hotel sits on a dark street and was a bit difficult to find, it looked safe to me.

We booked without paying, then got delayed by a snowstorm. They waited for us and had the room ready, and the receptionist was lovely, polite, and pleasant. The hotel is in a great spot that stays quiet, with cafes, a visa center, a park, and shops nearby. Wi-Fi is fast and free. I'd happily stay there again if I need to visit Astana.
