It’s quiet at night, so we got a good rest, and the bed was comfortable. The shower worked really well too. The place is cheap, clean, and well located, close to the pier so you don’t have to carry your bags far. The lady there is super helpful. Highly recommend it, very good value!
For a double room at 250k, it’s okay for one night and the price is competitive. There’s no breakfast included, though you can find some near the pier. The location is ideal, just a two-minute walk from where the slow boat to Pakbeng or Luang Prabang leaves. Our sheets were clean, but the rest of the room was quite dirty. Neither of the two rooms we stayed in had working air conditioning, though the nights are cool, so it wasn’t really necessary.
The hotel owner’s daughter was so welcoming and enthusiastic. We stayed two nights, and at 5:30 the next morning she drove us to the bus station in a pickup, for free. We were really touched. She speaks Chinese after studying in China, and her English is very good too, so communication was easy. We’ve spent a month traveling around Laos, and this was the cheapest and most welcoming hotel we found, at only 120,000. The room was large, with air conditioning, hot water, WiFi, and a TV. If you arrive in Huishai by boat, I highly recommend staying a night at this hotel by the pier. The service is especially sincere and warm.
