Wangview Hotel

The room cleanliness could be better, though it was already much better than the other hotels I've stayed at in Huay Xay. It's probably the most proper hotel in the Huay Xay area.

The restaurant next to the hotel was surprisingly good, and the staff were extremely friendly, even though none of them spoke English. If you have no choice but to make this visa run, download Laos into your Google Translate app. The hotel is probably one of the better options on the Laos side of the border, facing the Mekong. But the place is being left to rot. My room smelled musty, with water damage and mold on the bedroom wall. I found several cockroaches in the room and ants on the bed. The Wi-Fi was down during the day, and the power went out at night. There's a karaoke bar in the compound, so loud music can go on until around midnight. Breakfast was meant to be available from 7-10, but getting any before 8 was a struggle.

I didn't try the restaurant. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and the view over the Mekong River magnificent. A good three-star hotel.

The onsite restaurant has local food and a few international dishes, and the rooms are super clean. It's a peaceful place away from the noisy city, with a great spot for watching sunrise and sunset. The staff were welcoming and hospitable, with only a little English, but their warm welcome and lovely smiles made my stay memorable. A 5-10 minute walk takes you to the famous Mekong night market, where all kinds of local delicacies are served along the river.
