Pan's Bungalow

The breakfast was simple but really tasty. There's a great river view, a pool and a nice outdoor space. The rooms are generally pleasant, though they could use renovation and some basics like a bedside light. Work is underway on the property, so it may be in even better shape by the start of high season.

We had everything we needed in the room: air-con, a fan, warm white lighting, a fridge and a water heater. The riverside hotel on Don Khon also has a pool, a dining room by the riverbank, and a walkway where local children like to play in the water. The setting is especially nice at sunset. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, along with motorbike rentals: 100,000Kip from 7am to 8pm, or 150,000kip for 24 hours. A Tuk Tuk from the Don Det ferry deck cost 120,000kip.

Pan's is a lovely spot for a quiet break at the north end of Khone. Clean rooms have air con, and breakfast is eggs, homemade bread, fruit, tea and coffee. New concrete roads make the ride to the village at the north of Don Det about 20 minutes by bike, or less by tuktuk. For what it costs, I really can't complain.

We loved the quiet setting, the pleasant pool and the lovely river view. The host family listened to what we needed, and the friendly atmosphere made the stay especially enjoyable. I'd certainly return if I get the chance to visit this area again.
