Moon's House Hotel

The hotel's location is splendid, with Luang Prabang's attractions all within walking or cycling distance. The receptionist also explained that a bicycle was available for riding along the Mekong and Nam Khan river fronts. I was given a decent room with a mountain view right when I arrived, with no argument about having to wait until the usual 2 pm check-in. The staff were very pleasant and courteous. The hotel breakfast isn't worth bothering with; head to the legendary Cafe Benetton on Sisavangvong Road instead. The hotel itself looks old and jaded, though. It's long past its prime and badly needs a makeover, especially the front facade and reception area.

Our group was happy with the stay. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were nice and helpful.

This feels more like a guest house than a hotel. It's tucked into a side alley off the main streets, but still close to the night market and sights. The rooms were spotless, hot water worked fine, and the room was made up daily. We also got two bottles of water each day. Breakfast tasted very good, though there was just one option: omelette, bread, and fruit. The bed was quite hard, and people at the hostel next door could get pretty loud at night. Still, it was a fine place to stay for the money.

Our booking listed free breakfast, but it wasn't offered while we were there. The rooms were clean, though a little dull, and the homestay itself was clean and contemporary, set off a side street near the main sights. We found it safe, with friendly staff and neighbours. The front desk staff helped us arrange a motorcycle and a minivan to the train station. I'd visit again. 👍🏼
