A Tee Guesthouse

You can rent a bike here, which was the only good thing for us. The toilet leaked at first, then stopped working completely. There were lots of bugs in the room and bed, and we could hear everything outside and smell cigarette smoke. Those problems were small compared with the host's rude attitude, which made me uncomfortable for my whole stay apart from the first 10 minutes. They overbooked and made us leave after we'd been there 2 days, even though we'd told them we were leaving on Friday. I'd tell anyone reading this to look for another guesthouse. There are so many in the city, and they'll all be better.

The family running the guesthouse is nice, and the location is pretty good, away from the crowds but about a 5-minute walk from the edge of the Mekong River. You have to take your shoes or sandals off before going in. Free coffee and tea are available, and dispensers and laundry cost 20,000 Kip / Kg. The furniture is quite old, but there's AC and a fan, and the water gets hot. The wifi is slow. Still, for the low price, it's worth it.

The owner and his family are nice and helpful, and the room was clean, especially the bathroom. I couldn't use the AC and had to use the fan. It's a few meters from the main road, which was fine, but the alley has no street lights at night.

Ants were all over our bed, and my bag ended up infested too. We found over 30 inside it! The owner locks the gate at night and doesn't give you a key to get in or out, so you can't go to the almsgiving or the bowling alley. The cleaners tried to open our door at 7 am every morning and woke us up every day. There's an air-con in the room, but you're not allowed to use it unless you pay extra. We left our bags at the hotel after checking out and came back to collect them later. The next day we realized we'd left an expensive watch in the room. When we picked up our bags, no one returned it to us. The room should have been cleaned by then, so they stole the watch and didn't bother to tell us we'd left it.
