The stay felt like a luxury escape in Laos, with spacious rooms, excellent breakfast, and friendly, welcoming staff. The property is stunning and beautifully put together. The scooter we rented through the hotel caused problems. Its key was a poor copy and hard to use, and it stopped working in the middle of a roundabout, which felt stressful and unsafe. When we returned it, the receptionist didn’t act on our complaint, then finished his shift without passing it to the next staff member. We were disappointed. We also had a frightening wait for my passport after leaving it as a deposit for the whole day. When we returned the scooter, staff couldn’t find it right away. We were in Laos and leaving the next day, so not knowing where it was was very stressful. We told reception urgently and asked for it back within an hour. It was eventually returned, but I find it unacceptable to keep a guest’s passport without clear tracking or responsibility. The wooden floors carry sound. Housekeeping started very early, sometimes at 7:30-8:00 a.m. or earlier, and when a room above us was being cleaned, the creaking was loud enough to wake us abruptly. For a property at this level, I’d expect cleaning to start after breakfast, around 9:30-10:00 a.m., so sleeping guests aren’t disturbed.

A serene oasis in Luang Prabang, created from old palace buildings and grounds that have been beautifully restored. The setting is stunning, with attentive staff, an excellent spa and restaurant. An altogether exceptional hotel.

A charming hotel about a 10-minute walk from the city center. The rooms have lovely decor, though there’s no TV. I’d choose a superior room for the better natural light. Breakfast was very good, served at your table in a beautiful garden. The only drawback was the air conditioning right above the bed, which was noisy.

We spent four nights at this privately owned hotel, which has about 50 bedrooms. It’s understated, tasteful, and attractive, with excellent service and a good restaurant at moderate prices. We highly recommend it.
