Villa Ban Lao Hotel

We wished we could have stayed longer, and plan to return to Luang Prabang. This was our favourite place in both Vietnam and Laos. The shuttle to and from the airport, as well as into town, was a great extra. Staff were so friendly, and the breakfast had plenty of good options. They also made breakfast pho for my gluten allergy. Our room was amazing, and having access to the pool made the stay even better.

The location is very central, and Cafe 1960 made some of the best lattes I've had. There's also a good selection of single malt scotch. The food was good, and the executive chef, a really nice guy who runs the ship, was willing to tailor meals to our needs within reason. Service was top notch. Excellent hotel, highly recommend.

The complimentary shuttle was such a thoughtful convenience, and dinner at the restaurant one night was delicious. Our room was clean and comfortable, too. What really made the stay was how kind, welcoming, and attentive every staff member was. We loved our time here and would return without hesitation. Definitely recommend it, and we'll be back.

Getting into town during the day was easy, with the hotel golf cart dropping us where we needed to go. The evening ride to the night market was handy too, though getting picked up there can be awkward in the crowds. If you're having dinner or drinks down by 3 Nagas, the market blocks half the main road, so you have to walk through the packed stalls to the shuttle point. A tuk tuk from that end is easier. Staff were friendly, approachable, and helpful with questions. We had a courtyard room with loads of space to spread out and relax. The breakfast buffet was good, with an egg station and lots of Western and Asian choices. The onsite restaurant was impressive, and it was great to have a high quality meal right there when the weather wasn't so good. Tables overlook the pool. The pool itself is huge and has a swim-up bar. We had a really enjoyable stay, with thoughtful touches and great service, and would stay again.
