Villa Kiengkham

The owner was very kind and helped us a lot with our problems, and the staff were friendly and extra helpful. Our room was spacious and well furnished, with a comfortable bed, and fresh water was provided daily. The location made it easy to walk to both the town centre and the river. I enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

I left with my party to find another hotel rather than make a scene. I'd called the night before to book two rooms for one night for eight people, four to a room. The employee on the phone said rooms that slept four were available at 600,000 kips each per night. When we arrived the next day, a different employee at the front desk said they only had rooms for two. He said it was his son who had told us about rooms for four, and that his son didn't know anything. I didn't believe what he was saying. When I asked how much it would cost for all eight of us, he said 550,000 kips per room. I was angry about being given a different story on arrival. Be careful, this felt like a classic bait-and-switch tactic. They may have other hotels in Luang Prabang with similar names. Stay away.

The room was excellent, and so was the laundry service. But there's an important issue with the price: the owner charged more than the amount listed in the booking. We only found out when we were leaving.

The room was okay, though the WiFi kept cutting out. When we asked to pay, the owner was cheeky and tried to use a very different exchange rate from anywhere else. That would have made our stay much more expensive than the price we'd booked.
