Lattanavongsa Guesthouse

Watching village life from here was lovely. The restaurant looks over the little jetty, where children play in the water and fishermen clean their nets. The chalets are on the main road, about 50 metres away, so it feels like you get the best of both settings. Noy was incredibly helpful, and I’d definitely stay again. 100% recommended.

[Reviewing the touring services] The trip with Mr Noy was fantastic. We started with about an hour and a half of kayaking down the river, then left the kayaks and went to a sweet guesthouse on a farm to rest for a while. From there we visited a great waterfall and had a swim. It felt magical. We returned to the farm, then eventually took a boat back to Muang Ngoy.

We arranged an afternoon tubing trip through our host, and it was brilliant, with really good value. Breakfast at the restaurant was lovely too, with a river view. Our bungalow looked over the pretty garden. It was very clean, with a strong fan and comfortable beds. We had a few bathroom issues, but they were fixed after we mentioned them. There was some noise from building work.

The room I was taken to after paying was tiny, dirty, and full of bugs, with an open air bathroom. At first, the receptionist had shown me a much nicer room on the left side of the property, with sunshine and a huge TV. I’d paid twice the price expecting a nice stay. When I complained, he brushed it off and said all the other rooms had been booked in the five minutes in between. I thought he was lying. The place was filthy, with huge ants and cockroaches. Around 8:30, after dark, someone walked from one bungalow to another and came into mine because my door wasn’t locked. I was sick and lying in bed. It felt like a possible theft attempt. I noticed several doors opening and closing, and the person didn’t seem confused when they saw me. Take the stories about opportunists near the port seriously. It was also extremely noisy. I’d been in Laos for three weeks and nowhere else was this bad. The breakfast they try to upsell is just an egg and bread. Awful scam, they cheated shamelessly.
