Le Jardin Hotel De Pakse

I’d avoid it. It doesn’t feel like good value at all. The hotel is very dated now, the pool is tiny and doesn’t look clean. There are no lock boxes in the rooms, the design is old, and there aren’t many staff around to help. They don’t even have ice.

The location is a little outside the centre, but the hotel runs free shuttles into town for dinner, which worked well. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. The rooms were clean and nice, the pool was gorgeous, and breakfast was very good. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.

The owner or manager who welcomed us was kind, but that doesn’t make up for the rest. This is in no way a four-star hotel. We arrived to find no sheets, just a grimy blanket yellowed from previous guests, and the mattress was SO HARD. It felt more like a hostel or guest house. The pool water was dark and murky, as if it hadn’t been cleaned, and a large sign says they’re not responsible if anything goes missing from your room. That left us with no peace of mind. There’s room for all kinds of accommodation and guests, but the heavily edited photos have little to do with reality. It shouldn’t still be listed as four stars. Maybe it once was, but it certainly isn’t now. On Booking it appears as IF. The place feels like a scam. The price is outrageous for what it offers. We moved to another genuine four-star hotel, and it cost only €20 more.

For a night or two before a tour, this is a decent spot, though maybe a bit expensive. The tours were reasonably priced and good, and our driver was good too. At night the shuttle is helpful. The location is okay, the rooms are okay with good AC but not much light, and the pool is refreshing. Breakfast was average. Laundry is $1/kg, which is a good price.
