Savan Itecc Hotel

We booked two nights and three days, but ended up moving to another hotel because staying here any longer felt impossible. It really spoiled the mood of our trip, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who wants their Laos trip to go well. The room was horribly dirty. The floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly, and there were lots of ants and even flies inside. The toilet was unclean too, and basic things like tissue were missing or empty. The place didn’t seem maintained at all. Agoda said breakfast was included, but there was no food or coffee, nothing. That felt like false advertising. The hotel also looks misleading on Google compared with its actual condition, and the elevator seemed very old and poorly kept. Honestly, this was the worst room I’ve ever booked.

This feels more like office space than a hotel 🤣. There are only mini markets nearby, and you can’t really get a meal here. It’s a long way from everything, so I’d say one night at most. I wouldn’t advise staying longer. The floors are really dirty, like they’ve never been washed, and there are ants in the rooms. To get hot water, you have to turn the tap down until it’s barely running, otherwise it comes out cold. There’s no kettle, and just two bottles of water for four days.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and there’s free hot water for coffee in the lobby around the clock. There’s also a little stall with delicious coffee, better tasting than most cafes nearby. If you’re doing a visa run and need somewhere close to the Consulate office of Savaneket, this hotel works well. It’s an easy walk to the Thai Consulate, with some restaurants nearby too. A few of them take both Baht and Kip.

We booked three rooms for three nights at about 15 USD per room each night. The rooms were large and had fridges, and the area was nice and quiet. Staff were friendly, and one woman spoke great English. After a couple of weeks backpacking, we really needed laundry done. They arranged dry cleaning with a machine dry, and everything came back smelling so nice. Restaurants and some food markets are within a reasonable walk. The night market needs a taxi. We had a private van and driver for the week while travelling around the country. We’ll always stay here when we’re in Savannakhet.
