Somchith Chaleunxay Hotel

I stayed about a week for a visa run. The two bed room was 300 baht a night, a budget-friendly rate compared with other hotels, so I'd recommend it if you're trying to spend little. There's a cafe beside the hotel for coffee or lunch. At the lobby there's a water cooler for refills or hot water for noodles. They sell instant cup noodles for 30 baht and drinks for 20, but the drinks aren't cold, so I don't think they're worth it. There also isn't daily room service.

The restaurant serves good, cheap food, and you can have fine dining there. But when the kitchen is busy, smoke and smells get into the room, which is bad if you're inside during rush cooking hours. The rooms are clean, but they don't have furniture. They don't even provide slippers for the toilet.

It's inexpensive and basic, and close to the Thai consulate, so it works well for visa runs. It's a bit far from the town centre. If you want a cheap, quiet place near the consulate, this fits. If you're planning to go out at night, stay somewhere else.

It doesn't have much in the way of amenities: no restaurant on site, gym, or swimming pool. It feels more like a guest house than a hotel. You're in Savannakhet, so if you wanted nice facilities, you probably should have gone somewhere else.
