When I got to the house, I didn’t have a booking. Inside was filthy and empty, with things strewn across the floor; it looked like a dirty youth hostel. There was no posted note or instructions telling guests to contact the WhatsApp number on the door to reach the owner. I waited ten minutes for help, then messaged the French owner to ask about a room. He said it would be 350,000 Kip. I sent a screenshot showing the online price of 220,000 Kip, and he replied with a rude WhatsApp voice message. He said he didn’t want me wasting his time and told me to go elsewhere if I couldn’t afford it. I suggested he update the online prices. I think he may have listed a low price deliberately to rank better in search results. If you book online for 220,000 Kip, the rude owner might ask for more when you arrive. I left that dirty house and found several nicer, cleaner places for 250,000 Kip per night. I wouldn’t recommend staying there. Better to support a local Lao business owner.

Touly was a real help, speaks English perfectly, and is an interesting person to chat with. The location is a reasonable distance from the old town, a supermarket, and a French bakery. We had a great stay: the room was spacious and well equipped, with a comfortable bed and everything we needed. You can refill water for free, and laundry service is available. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The hosts are friendly and can share information about the city. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. I’d highly recommend it to travelers or couples who need a few nights’ rest.

We had a lovely week here, and Dam, the cleaning lady, made it especially nice. She’s so sweet and always smiling. The Mekong River is close by, and there’s a great, affordable place to eat just to the left of the house. Our room was clean, laundry cost a small fee, and we could use a bicycle and some kitchen things. A good place to have some space and unwind in Savannakhet!

The electric kettle in the room was a nice extra, and there’s a convenience store nearby with pretty much anything you might need. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk to the Mekong river, with a Buddhist monastery also within walking distance. This is a cozy, friendly homestay. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the shower had hot water and worked fine.
