Local Guesthouse

Staff were great at helping with train tickets and transport, and there are plenty of eateries and tour agencies close by. The day and night markets are walkable, and the river tubing endpoint is very near. This is a family-run guesthouse with a sister place called Camellia. Our room was huge, with space to dry clothes, and the beds were clean and comfy. Breakfast is basic but does the job. The only downside for me was the toilet. The heater seemed a little broken, so hot water came and went. Even so, it was a really good-value stay with amazing staff, and I'd 100% come back.

Although I never got to stay at the hotel, the owner's kindness and honesty really impressed me. I hope I can stay there next time, and I can see why the place gets so many good reviews. I'd booked two nights after the reviews caught my eye. The day before my stay, the owner let me know an unexpected situation meant my room, or possibly the whole floor, was no longer available. He apologized and offered a free cancellation. With so little notice, I found another nearby hotel that cost more. The owner suggested a place with good reviews, and when I mentioned the higher price, he said he'd cover the difference himself. After I checked in, he came over and paid it as promised. He was very kind, honest, and always smiling.

The host was kind and happy to help, and the Local Guesthouse is an easy walk from the town centre. Our room was simple but had what we needed: it was clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the shower pressure was good.

Tom, who runs the place, is really kind and helpful, and that makes a big difference. The location is great but still feels a little tucked away. Rooms are spacious, clean, and homely. Honestly, an ideal place to stay in Vang Vieng.
