It's a nice location and relatively not dirty, but very quiet and not social. There's a pool and some old billiards. The room fan is probably the loudest non-industrial one I've ever heard, and the beds squeak. There's nowhere to put your phone or other things by the bed, no hangers or spot for clothes or towels, and no soap or towels supplied. They do provide toilet paper, the worst I've seen in Laos so far. Once a week they burn plastic and garbage about 10 meters from the pool, and it goes on for hours.

The pool area has a lovely mountain view, and breakfast has great options. It was one of the best hostels I've stayed in: clean, comfortable beds, hot showers, and lovely staff and dogs. I'd definitely come back.

The puppies were the only good part. We checked out soon after arriving because our beds were covered in ants. They showed us other rooms, but those had ants too. Staff just brushed them away and said it would be grand, and friends staying there found ants in their beds as well. The owner wasn't pleased, but after we insisted, he eventually gave us a full refund. He made us cancel through Hostelworld, so we couldn't leave a review there. Not good when all 12 of us checked out.

I stayed five nights. The room was basic, but the bed and toilet were clean, and they cleaned the room daily. There's a good view from the backyard, and the owner is very friendly and helpful. A few small areas of the hostel need cleaning up, which I think may be because of the July flood. The dogs can be really cute, or sometimes really aggressive. 😬

It's family run, and everyone was very friendly. Three puppies were lying around when we arrived. Our private room was very big, and the pool area was nice, with a view of the balloons.
