Azalea Parkview Hotel

We read mixed reviews before spending our last two nights in Laos 🇱🇦, but our stay turned out perfectly. They upgraded us when we arrived, and the rooms were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic, and the hotel is well placed for visiting the Victory Arch, with restaurants all around. We were really happy with the stay and would come back.

Breakfast was easily the best part. There was lots of variety, with plenty of Laotian food and only a few Western options, which I liked. We had chicken and pork noodle soup, pan-fried noodles, fried rice, different meats, salads, juices, eggs, sausages, breads, and fruit. The food was all good. Restaurants are on the same road, but you need to walk 10-15 minutes for more variety, and the mall is 20-25 minutes away. It was a decent stay overall. The lobby was lovely, decorated for the holidays, and had a modern yet old-fashioned feel. There were lots of comfortable seats, plus a coffee, drink, and snack stand. We didn’t buy anything there because prices on the road were more reasonable, though it was convenient. The hallways and our Grand Luxury Double room felt dated. The room was spacious and had a city view, but it felt more dated than luxurious. Check-in was easy, though nobody greeted us or helped with our luggage upstairs, which wasn’t a big deal. We left the door sign out for cleaning, but nobody came. I had to call for fresh towels and water and to have the trash taken out. The cleaner seemed bothered by us, but it didn’t phase us. The pool didn’t look inviting, so we skipped it.

The staff were friendly and let us check in early. Our rooms were cleaned and the towels changed every day. The rooftop pool had lots of chairs and towels were provided, and the small gym had drinking water. The pool could use attention, though. There was just one umbrella, many tiles had come off, and the water looked clean on day one but quite dirty by day five. The gym had no cleaning supplies, such as antibacterial spray.

The staff at Azalea Park View Hotel were polite and helpful throughout my stay, and they really seemed to be trying their best. It’s a budget-friendly place, but the room maintenance needs work. I don’t expect luxury and understand you get what you pay for, but there should still be a basic standard of upkeep and repairs. Please see the photos. With attention to those small fixes, this could be a much stronger option for the price. Thanks to the staff for their effort.
