I was meant to stay seven days, but checked out after the first one, even though the booking was non-refundable. The walls have no sound insulation, so I could hear the elevator doors opening even from another floor, and I couldn’t sleep. The wifi only worked in the lobby. It’s a long way from the city centre, so unless you’re here for a conference or just one night near the airport, I’d suggest staying somewhere else. There are plenty of good budget options in Vientiane. I’ve lived in Laos for years and stayed in hotels all over the country. I’m pretty tolerant of old or broken things, but this is the only hotel I’ve ever reviewed. The photos give some idea, but it was much worse in person. The young man at the front desk was easily the rudest hotel staff member I’ve dealt with in Laos. He just handed over the key without telling me where to put my bags, where the lift was, my room or floor number, or the wifi details. I couldn’t check in early, which was completely fine, but when I came back he was asleep on the couch behind the counter and was upset that I’d woken him. The bathroom was filthy, as the photos show, and the aircon unit looked like it had never been cleaned, with mould growing everywhere. It didn’t work properly. When it did, it had dust and what looked like mouse debris, and cracked and creaked as if it might fall off the wall. For a place that’s supposed to be brand new, it’s nowhere near any kind of standard.

This was my second stay here. The first time was quite okay, but this time the room changes were a mess. The AC didn’t work in the first room, so we told the front staff. They called their boss for approval to move us. In the second room, the AC still didn’t work, only blowing air at 28 degrees C, and they told us to try another room. That room looked clean and ready, but smelled strongly of smoke as soon as we opened the door. We asked for a refund for the other two nights and were told to contact the agency. They just kept passing it along without taking responsibility. What a scam! If you’re looking for a nice, cheap hotel, go somewhere else. There are so many better places.

I was in room #201 for eight nights. The staff were friendly and the room was clean, but I barely slept because of all the noise. It isn’t soundproof, and there were loud sounds early in the morning. The elevator was noisy too. Room service came at 9 AM, which feels too early on vacation. My sheets were changed only once during the whole stay, and they replaced the water bottles only once as well. The AC was dripping water.

I booked a room during the day and came back with cash at 11:00 p.m., only to find they’d given it to someone else. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The wifi was unusable, which also made the smart TV useless, and the nighttime employee was kind but not very helpful when I needed something. Still, I had a great four-night stay and would come back. The room was spacious and very clean, with lots of windows and a comfortable bed. There was a drink and snack bar, complimentary water and coffee, plus a kettle and refrigerator. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the main area of the city.
