Douang Deuane Hotel

This isn’t a new hotel, but it’s very good value. Nearby places with fewer features, such as an elevator, breakfast, and daily cleaning, charge 50-100% more. The staff were excellent, friendly, and helpful. The hotel is near the night market and several attractions, in what seemed like a safe area with plenty of hotels and restaurants. Two convenience stores are an easy walk and stay open late. There’s a wash-and-dry laundry service right across from the hotel. A park for walking and exercise is about 100 m away. Much of it turns into the night market in the evening, and beyond that is the riverfront, with food stalls and a children’s park. My room was spacious, with plenty of space between the bed and the wall. It was cleaned daily, towels were changed, and free water bottles were provided. The air conditioning worked well and wasn’t noisy. The WiFi signal was strong in the room, and there was a reasonably sized refrigerator. The TV isn’t a flat screen; it has several channels, including a few in English, but most looked grainy and unclear. The balcony is bigger than those at most hotels, but has no chair or table. The wardrobe had enough hangers and storage. Hot water is centrally heated and takes a couple of minutes of running before it gets hot. It’s available at the shower or bathtub and the sink. The bathroom combines the toilet and bath area. Toiletries were provided and towels changed every day, and the lighting was good for shaving. The bathtub grouting was a bit crude and looked poor. There’s a socket near the bed, and you can turn off the room lights from there. The hotel restaurant is used for free breakfast only, with no other meals served there. There are several nearby restaurants with local and international food, and most are affordable. The breakfast was included, but the menu stayed the same during the few days I was there, which could be an issue on a longer stay. Even so, it was more than worth the room price. There’s no microwave or kettle, and no coffee or tea provided in the room. The room was reasonably soundproof. I couldn’t hear guests next door, and despite facing the road, I had no noise problems from traffic or people outside. The hotel has five floors and one elevator. It could use a coat of paint, and I understand the elevator company has been dragging its feet on that job. There were no problems with its speed or wait time.
