ibis Vientiane Nam Phu

The restaurant is unpretentious, but the food and drinks were excellent. Our airport pickup was on time and reasonably priced, and it’s only a short walk to the Mekong River. This is by far the best Ibis Hotel we’ve stayed at anywhere in the world. It deserves another official star. The staff were incredibly helpful. When a nearby ATM malfunctioned and held my card, Tina at reception arranged a successful visit to the associated bank so I could get it back. Her English is excellent, and she deserves a concierge role at a higher-rated Accor Hotel.

It’s a small, compact room, but very clean and comfortable, with cool air conditioning and no unpleasant smell. Breakfast is simple. The hotel is near the police station and a currency exchange, and not far from the Mekong River.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. They arranged high-speed rail tickets to Luang Prabang for me, and helped organize transport to and from the airport and railway station. It’s excellent value for money. The rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable, with great air conditioning and a shower that felt especially good after a long day out in the afternoon heat. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, both tourist-oriented places and local shops, along with cafes, sightseeing attractions and the Mekong riverfront. I had a lovely stay here.

A comfortable stay for the price. The location is strategic, and the staff were attentive and very friendly. James handled my check-in perfectly, a 10/10. I arrived early and was exhausted, so he let me check in ahead of time.
