Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel

You get a lovely view of the Mekong River, and the place has a real landmark feel despite being a bit old. There aren’t any restaurants or bars nearby, which is a shame.

I paid for a day pass for the gym, pool, and sauna, and didn’t enjoy the facilities. The “gym” is really a very small fitness room with old equipment that isn’t enough for a decent workout. It only fits 3-4 people at a time, and not comfortably. The pool is large but has no separate sections, so everyone swims in the same area. I saw some people with children wearing diapers in the water, which I found disgusting and unsanitary. Children and adults shouldn’t have to share the same water for sanitary reasons, since children can’t control their bodily excretions and accidents or viruses could result. I definitely didn’t swim. The sauna costs extra and is down the hall past the rooms. It felt awkward walking by guest rooms to reach the sauna or pool when the locker room is on the other side. There should be changing rooms near the pool or sauna. I also wasn’t given a towel, wristband, or locker key with my pass and had to ask for them. Hotel guests and day pass visitors should get the same treatment and amenities. A jacuzzi was listed in the services, but I didn’t see one. Parking is underground, so you park there and then cross an overpass to get to the hotel lobby. The property seems focused on aesthetics, but the value isn’t worth it. It feels like a scam property, and it’s half empty most of the time. The restaurants and eating areas are overpriced and not worth it. Eat local. I’d never return, and would choose a more adequate place. I’d recommend going to a real gym and swimming pool, not Landmark.

I booked full service on Agoda, but the receptionist said it was room only. I only wanted an explanation, but their attitude was terrible. Very bad service.

The staff were courteous, and towels and lockers were free. I came for the pool and also checked out the fitness facilities. A gym-only day pass is ₭40,000, which is very affordable compared with other gyms, though the equipment is lacking but okay for a hotel gym. Pool access for a day costs ₭95,000 per person.
