PALA Garden Hotel

A hotel for a holiday.

I really like this place.

The breakfast restaurant has a varied menu and the food is decent, though the large dining room gets so noisy when crowded that it's hard to hear yourself think. Service was adequate, nothing beyond that. Our room was spacious, with working air-conditioning and reasonably clean, dry sheets. Still, the bathroom smelled bad, and the toilet sharing that room was awkwardly laid out. The construction feels cheap, including a bathroom leak and pool sealant that seemed rushed. Large cockroaches occasionally wandered around. We spent three nights there in July 2025. The pool wasn't very clean despite the robotic cleaner and daily staff cleaning. Its metal edges were sharply finished, poorly welded at the corners, and slippery. The hotel might have been nice, but the build quality and materials let it down. At this price you might say you get what you pay for, but I wouldn't recommend it.

What stayed with me most was how carefully the little things were handled. There were separate pairs of slippers for the bathroom and room, and the bathroom items, towels and shower products, felt like the sort of quality you see in European boutique hotels with global brands. The toilet paper was premium too, which may sound funny, but that's rare in Laos. Even the toothbrush didn't make my gums bleed. Small details, but they showed real attention to quality. The slippers were comfortable around the hotel, and the bathroom supplies stayed in perfect shape, as if freshly replaced. The room itself was spotless, stylish, and comfortable, with new things that worked perfectly. The orthopedic pillow and mattress were a real treat, even compared with luxury hotels, and the air-conditioning was flawless. I felt at home, only much better. The staff made it feel like I was visiting close friends. They cared about each guest and handled personal requests with kindness and professionalism. It felt like they enjoyed making people happy, not just earning money. Breakfast was individually prepared with fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors, at a quality I'd expect from a top restaurant. It was more than just a meal. I've never stayed in a better hotel. If you want care and comfort along with a place to sleep, this is it. I'm leaving with a piece of my heart here, and I'll definitely want to come back and tell people about it.
