The hotel has a lovely setting, French and Southeast Asian style, big beds, and friendly staff. They also kindly brought hangers and dried the clothes I’d left on the windowsill while we were out. But when our money seemed to have been touched in my bag the night before, the response was not enough for me. I reported it to staff downstairs straight away. The translator asked why I hadn’t put the money in the room safe. I called emergency numbers 191, 192 and 193, but all were busy and unreachable. A staff member who had been in our room turned around and went the other way when he saw us return. We later checked his bag, motorcycle and dormitory, but found nothing. The manager said they’d tell me if anything turned up, but the issue wasn’t resolved that night. I asked to change rooms, and staff arranged it immediately. I checked out the next day. Before leaving, I told them I no longer cared whether the money could be recovered, since so much had changed overnight. We’d stayed for a full week last month and chose this hotel again for this trip, but I won’t be back. For security, emergency response and follow-up, the service fell short and didn’t show enough responsibility. Even five-star hotels can have guests’ belongings interfered with in their rooms, and there may be no proper solution afterward beyond a promise to notify you if anything is found. Travelers who always keep money in the safe, or who don’t pursue things when their interests are harmed, may still consider staying here. The management standards and oversight at five-star hotels need improvement to protect consumers’ rights. As an international traveler, this experience affected my trip a lot. Please think carefully before choosing this hotel: the way it handles problems doesn’t feel appropriate or responsible. I really hope WeChat Pay becomes available worldwide so people don’t have to carry so much cash when they go out.

For a budget hotel, I think this is terrific value at £17-19 a night. I’m a backpacker, and after rating it on Agoda on my first visit, I wanted to leave a Google review this time. I’d book it again without hesitation if I return to Vientiane. It’s central, with restaurants, cafes, temples, bike and scooter hire, and the night market nearby. The place and rooms feel spacious and gracious. Everything I need is there and works, including a comfortable bed and pillows. The cheapest rooms don’t have windows, but they’re large, with a fan, air-con, polished wooden floors, high ceilings and good lighting, so I personally don’t mind. The staff are the icing on the cake: genuinely friendly and helpful, and they all speak English, which makes things easy.

For the price, the room is really large, and everything inside was neat and tidy. It’s not very modern, but it worked very well for a short stay. I also really appreciated the help from the hotel staff.

The Wi-Fi was useless, and you have to leave your key card when you go out, so keep an eye on your money and belongings. The bigger issue was that they entered our room without permission while we were asleep. I’d forgotten to put up the Do Not Disturb sign, and they used their key to come in. That felt so disgusting. Be careful to put the sign out.

We only wanted a simple guesthouse or hotel for one night, but the owner and front desk staff were incredibly rude. They said they didn’t want guests with young children, and warned that if our kids got loud, they’d kick us out. They even said they would cancel our booking and have Agoda refund us. We didn’t stay, and the owner seemed happy to watch us walk out. No respect, loud and angry, and zero customer service. Read other reviews about how she has treated people before deciding to stay. Avoid this place, it isn’t worth the hassle.
