The Q Residence Vientiane

I LITERALLY like this residence. The staff are kind and the service is good, and all the rooms are clean. There’s a shop nearby where you can buy food and candy at night.

The one real plus for me was the location. It’s in the same community where I live, and I could walk around or pass through the pool area to get there. But the price wasn’t worth the lack of service when my family came to visit from abroad. I booked nearly a month, well in advance, and paid the full amount plus an equal deposit. When they were moved to a room on the third floor, there were obvious maintenance issues: a hole in the wall where a doorstop had been removed, peeling composite wood on the bathroom counter, and missing remote batteries. I asked maintenance to check, and the man said he already knew about it and not to worry. We also had to pay separately for water and electricity. For the price and size, it was mediocre at best and disappointing. The place looked like a four- or five-star hotel, but the decor, amenities, and service felt more like two or three stars. It was high season with plenty of foreign guests, yet there seemed to be no consideration for other guests or rules. There are no-smoking signs inside and in the elevators for a reason, but people smoked anyway, with no warning, prevention, or punishment. It was disorganized, and I wouldn’t recommend it to family or friends visiting again.

The rooms were badly maintained, with broken things and mold on the walls. Nobody helped with luggage when I arrived, and the front desk staff were rude and seemed not to care if I stayed. The service was horrible, and the whole experience was awful. I wouldn’t stay here again.
