1866 Court & Suites

The mould on the walls was the last straw. I could see it clearly this morning, and I’m leaving right away. After arriving late the night before following a long flight, I found a damp smell, dirty carpet, peeling plaster and stained tables. The bathroom had no toiletries, just one all-in-one gel meant for shampoo and showering. They moved me to another room, but it was in the same condition, only with a slightly less awful smell. I’ve travelled around the world and never stayed in a place calling itself five-star that felt even close to it. It’s old and nasty, and I can’t wait to go. I came to Beirut for an operation and needed somewhere to rest, but now I have to find another place. The front desk wouldn’t upgrade me, even though it was low season and occupancy was very low. That was terrible customer service. This should be two stars at most, and that’s generous. Calling it five-star is fake.

My diamond ring disappeared, and we never got it back. My fiancé spent the whole night with staff trying to find it, then returned the next day to check the cameras, but there was no sign of it. We also had a miserable start: the first room smelled horrible, with wet, dirty carpet and only one towel, no amenities. Reception told us to switch rooms, but the cleaner was still in the next one spraying perfume over the smell. We chose not to sleep there that night and didn’t return the following day. I called more than ten times before anyone answered. After all that, management offered a discount or an upgrade for next time as compensation. Honestly, that felt insulting.

We were very comfortable at 1866, thanks to the hospitable, professional staff. Ms. Nadia and the other gentlemen at reception, manager Mr. Raydan, and the service team all helped make our stay a good one. The location also made it easy to walk to nearly every worthwhile sightseeing spot, restaurant, and Beirut landmark. My family and I will definitely stay here whenever we visit Beirut.

We spent two nights here. The location is excellent, and the staff were friendly and professional. It felt a little overpriced, especially with breakfast not included, but we were happy with the stay overall.
