35 Rooms

The location is the only positive. This was my fourth trip to Beirut, and by far the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Our rooms were advertised through Expedia as having free breakfast, but we never got breakfast. Expedia also said “full kitchens,” yet neither room had one. The two bedroom suite was disgusting, and I was embarrassed that our family had to stay there. The carpet was filthy, furniture and mattress had cigarette burns, and both rooms reeked of smoke. After a week, all my clothes and suitcases smelled of cigarettes too. There was black mold in our shower, the water never got hot, and the unenclosed showers left water everywhere. The bathroom fan and hair dryer couldn’t run at the same time without tripping the outlet. One sink in the two bedroom suite leaked and soaked the carpet. The elevator was so small that more than three small people couldn’t fit. Music from the downstairs 35 rooms bar was so loud we had trouble sleeping. We felt bad having the cleaners come daily, so on a few days we put on the do not disturb light and asked only for clean towels. Twice, no clean towels were available, and they gave us bath mats instead. Our family only had a 7 day visa, so the two bedroom suite was empty on our final night. We were told that if we had booked directly with the hotel, they would refund us, and that we should contact Expedia. After several calls and emails, and Expedia contacting the hotel, Expedia told me the hotel had decided not to refund that last night. I hadn’t planned to review the condition of the place, but since they’re keeping my money, here it is. The staff seemed nice, but they told us one thing about the refund and now refuse. I tipped the housekeepers and front desk staff when we left, which I regret. Save yourself the hassle and book elsewhere.

We won’t come back. There were constantly too few towels and pillows, the rooms smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, the air conditioning kept acting up, and the room cards repeatedly failed. When we brought these problems to the team, they couldn’t do anything. The owners’ and management’s lack of attention is unbelievable. Truly unacceptable and very upsetting.

The lobby and bedroom both smelled of cigarettes, and there were cigarette holes in our mattress. We had to air out the room as soon as we arrived. Towels and pillows weren’t available, with staff saying housekeeping hadn’t come yet. They also didn’t answer when we called, so we had to contact them through their website just to ask for basic things. The air conditioner kept turning off and on, and staff had to keep coming in to fix it. There’s no shampoo or conditioner, so bring your own. Even staff were complaining that management doesn’t supply basic things for guests. The staff were very unprofessional, and for what I paid, I expected a place near where I wanted to go. It didn’t meet expectations. I won’t be back.

Nice room layouts, excellent service, and a great location. A lovely place to stay.
