Hotel L'Aiglon

The traditional Lebanese breakfast was amazing, and the staff were great, especially Mr. Tony. Exceptional hotel, I’d definitely come back.

The breakfast was delicious, and the view from the hilltop is incredible. The hotel is farther from the main village, but staying there is a really unique experience. The rooms are good enough, though the internet is patchy. That view is killer!!!

The view really is five stars, but that’s the only part I can praise. The assistant was the one person who helped us, and even offered a better room for our second night. We accepted because we were being charged either way, but the problems carried on: no Wi-Fi, no heating, and no power again at night. The place is run by the owner, Tony, and two assistants, yet it felt like an abandoned building rather than a five-star resort. We arrived to a dark, empty hotel, and were given a different room from the one we’d booked. After a long hike there was no hot water when we needed a shower. It took nearly an hour to fix, and Tony was rude and dismissive when we raised concerns. He also refused credit card payment, despite having confirmed earlier that we could pay that way. The hotel shut off electricity and heat overnight. We had no power from midnight until 6 AM and it was freezing. In the morning, staff weren’t available for breakfast, and we had to wait for them to wake up just to check out. Breakfast was basic. They then tried to overcharge us with unexplained “taxes” that weren’t listed in the booking. The photos may make this place look amazing, but it’s badly managed. If you care about comfort, reliability, or even basic customer service, avoid it.

That view is the real draw, it makes you feel as if you could reach up and touch the sky. This was our second visit, and we came back because we were still so charmed by the first. The rooms are small, but very clean and have what you need, including hot water, toiletries and towels. The beds are comfortable, too. This isn't a 5, 4 or 3 star hotel, just a cozy place with its own charm and very authentic people running it. If you want luxury, look elsewhere. For simplicity, comfort, peace and a genuinely happy stay, it's a gem in both summer and winter.
