Yellow Sands Villa Unit 2

Alex helped us arrange excursions, including a sunset boat ride to see the Pitons. The villas at Yellow Sands Luxury Villas were newly built and had modern amenities. We loved the views from the balconies, the hospitality, and having access to both the saltwater pool and beach. The St. Lucian cuisine prepared for us was amazing and left us wanting more. It was a stay we couldn’t have dreamed of improving.

Please save your money. There were so many problems in both units, and the way Alex handled them made us uncomfortable. On arrival, Unit 2 had a ceiling A/C leak, so Alex offered Unit 1 until Friday, when 2 was supposed to be fixed. He said we could then view Unit 2 and either stay in 1 or move to 2. When I asked for a price adjustment for 2 nights because Unit 2 costs more, he deflected and said someone had booked Unit 1, so we had to move Friday. At 10am Friday, Unit 2 was ready, but it was unlivable: hot, unclean, ants on the kitchen windowsill, an inoperable A/C in the second bedroom, a broken ceiling fan (we were told to close the door), and a paint smell. Since those issues would take longer to fix, we accepted Alex’s offer to stay in Unit 1. He then texted that because WE chose Unit 1, he wouldn’t compensate us. FYI, no one else checked in, and we were the only guests on the property. Unit 1, supposedly the “good unit,” also had a long list of problems. It wasn’t clean, the master bathroom pocket door was off track, the dishwasher fell out from under the counter, and the windows didn’t seal, letting bugs, geat and humidity in. The master shower handle was missing its cover plate, exposing pipes. One patio door panel wouldn’t lock, the screen door was off its track, there was water damage around the bathroom window, the countertop was cracked, and the “used” kitchen cabinets had an off-putting smell. It felt like the place was under rolling renovation, though it was just 2 years old. We didn’t use the pool because there seemed to be an issue with the pump (?) and they kept dumping chlorine in it until it smelled of chlorine. The neighbors’ pack of dogs started barking at 5 am. There were also 2 dogs on the property, caged in the heat for 22 hours a day and all weekend, with nobody providing food or water. It was heartbreaking. We were disheartened by what felt like lies about the issues and the complex’s state of disrepair, and by Alex taking his problems out on us. We wish we’d known what to expect before renting. We hope this helps others make an informed choice and avoid what we experienced. Not sure how people actually give this place a 10 rating.
