Apartment Espoir

The apartment itself was fine, but I was deeply disappointed by the host’s conduct. After I left a polite review mentioning that the property might be difficult for guests with mobility issues, the host replied with an aggressive, racially offensive message. They wrote: “Apartment Espoir are a SELF CATERING apartment complex, not a 5 Star Hotel. When you arrived, you asked for a Porter, sorry we do not provide this service. Slavery was abolished by the British Parliament in 1834. your country Africa has never recognized nor abolished Slavery up to today!” This was unprofessional and unacceptable. Because of the host’s behavior and disrespect toward guests, I wouldn’t recommend the property.

We spent three months at Apartment Espoir last winter, and it felt like home. The pool was a lovely place to relax with a book at the end of the day, and the beach was within walking distance. Keith and Sabina welcomed us like family and made sure we had everything we needed for a long stay. Their staff were exceptional, especially Angela, who went above and beyond. We highly recommend it if you want to experience St. Lucia at its best.

The pool was refreshing and quiet, the views were great, and the place was very clean. On-site massage therapy was a highlight. We stayed 10 days, but had to change rooms three times because of a plumbing problem the owner couldn’t fix despite repeated attempts. Otherwise the apartment would have been perfect for us. We hadn’t realized the bedroom only had a double bed, which was too small for us, though still comfortable. The hills are steep, so anyone with mobility issues should avoid the property. St. Lucia is a gorgeous island with tons to see and do.

Keith went out of his way for us, getting food because we arrived very late and helping us find a car. He was always there when we needed him. The apartment was clean and nice, and the balcony view was stunning. We had a memorable time in St. Lucia. Many thanks to Keith for making our stay so special.
