This was a special place, and I'd love to return. We stayed in the main house at La Dauphine Estate for the first five days of our holiday, with four adults and two children, before heading to Villa Beach Cottages. It was a great start and a good base for exploring the south of the island. We chose not to drive, and Junior, our taxi driver, looked after us and took us to the best spots at the right times. The house was clean, well equipped, and roomy. The beds were comfortable, and it could easily fit a larger group. We barely used the upstairs room with its three extra beds. Since there aren't shops or restaurants within walking distance for the evening, we arranged for some groceries to be there when we arrived. The estate's setting is beautiful and feels peaceful and secluded. Waking up in the rainforest is something I won't forget. There's also lots of birdlife, including many kinds of hummingbird, and our son had fun picking grapefruit and oranges for breakfast. Having a swimming pool was a real bonus. We arranged a few of Antonia's homemade Creole meals after reading the reviews, and they were a treat, so full of flavor. Charles, who manages the estate, gave us an interesting talk about its history and showed us the plants and fruit growing there.

Antonia is lovely and gracious, and she's a great cook. The setting is beautiful, with plenty of flora and fauna. The place could be so much better with improved cleaning: the fans had years of dust, floor corners were dirty, there were dead bugs in the shower, the green towels had bleach marks, and the quilts on the beds were old. It deserves more care.

The pool is wonderful, and I love being surrounded by nature. La Dauphine has become our little escape, perfect for a family break. We've been about four times now and will definitely be back.

My husband and I had our honeymoon here and absolutely loved it. We booked the package that splits the stay between the villa beach cottages and the dauphine estates, which was a great mix of beach relaxation and adventure. The Dauphine is in the rainforest, so even though I was a little unsure about there being no air conditioning, it was comfortable, with beautiful scenery all around. Charles and Antonia were amazing. They know so much about the island and were helpful with everything. There's a restaurant down the road with friendly, fun staff, and prices a little lower than in town, if you want to go out for food or drinks. I'd highly recommend this package for a relaxing trip, an adventurous one, or both. It's a great choice for a family holiday or a getaway for two.

A cozy, homely place to unwind. It's a lovely Colonial style house with lots of fruit trees, a great pool, and even a small trail on the property.
