The experience at Green Fig Resort & Spa felt like an adventure throughout. Wandering the paths, heading into town, taking a break by the pool, or just looking out at the scenery all felt memorable and made it easy to slow down and enjoy being there. From above Soufrière, the resort has beautiful views, and each corner of the property seemed to offer something new. The staff were warm, attentive, and kind, and made a personal effort to make us comfortable. The place was very clean and thoughtfully laid out, with character instead of a generic feel. Our room was high quality and comfortable, with careful details, and the recently renovated bathroom was appreciated, as were the towels and bath robes. This is a special place with lovely people and a memorable setting. I’d absolutely stay again.

I spent four nights at Green Fig Resort & Spa in January. The view from my room of one of the Pitons was breathtaking, and waking up to it felt unreal. From the balcony, it was almost like being inside one volcano and looking out at another. The resort is rustic and naturally beautiful, and the peaceful atmosphere, good food, and lovely spa were highlights. Evening service was good overall, and one gentleman was especially kind, welcoming, and attentive. I wish I’d learned his name. There are some things that need attention for the price. Food and drinks were very expensive, and I expected better upkeep. Some pool cushions had noticeable red stains that looked like blood, which was off-putting. The treehouse area could be lovely and relaxing, but seemed neglected, with dirty cushions, messy chairs, and leaves everywhere, as if it hadn’t been maintained for a long time. The spacious room was beautiful and the bed comfortable, though the furniture and décor felt dated and could use refreshing. I understand the rustic style, but details need more care. Below the pool, near the way out of my room, an area looked like a dumping or construction site, detracting from the otherwise lovely surroundings. I’d recommend the resort for the views and serenity, but it needs better cleaning, maintenance, and some upgrades to justify the high price.

The view took our breath away as soon as we got out of the taxi. Green Fig sits among the treetops, yet Soufriere’s lively town is still walkable, and the hotel is under an hour from the airport. Our room was at the top of the hotel, so there were fewer steps to the pool, restaurant, and reception, which was a plus. It was comfortable, and we made good use of the pool, bar, and restaurant. Town sounds could be a bit noisy at night, but it was fine.

The best part was being near Anse Chastenet beach, where the snorkeling was good. Otherwise, we were very disappointed and would not return to the resort or the country. The front desk staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. After we walked up the hill one day, I asked for cold bottled water and was told there should be some in my room. The woman didn’t even get up to fetch one. There was nobody at the desk in the evenings. A couple of the restaurant waitresses were friendly, but the meals were overpriced and disappointing. We paid $120USD for one small appetizer, just four small fish fritter bites, and two small portions of overcooked, tough Mahi Mahi. Breakfast was mediocre, low quality, and the same each day. The bananas were the highlight. The resort also needs maintenance. The porter said there were three pools but didn’t explain where they were or how to reach them. Two small pools not shown on the website looked dirty and one outside our room was cold. We saw leaves being cleaned from the main pool a couple of times. The pool bartender was unfriendly, took away rubbish left by previous guests but didn’t greet us or offer drinks. We only used the pool once and didn’t spend much time socializing there. “Hummingbird beach,” within walking distance, was disgusting, smelled like raw sewage, had toilet paper floating in the water, and chickens and roosters leaving droppings on the sand. The town felt run down and dirty, with rubbish everywhere, poor sanitation, and high prices for tourists. Cab drivers kept suggesting a couple of overpriced tourist restaurants with disappointing food, and taxis around town cost a fortune. We became ill despite being extremely careful about what we ate while traveling, and I’m on day five of a severe gastrointestinal illness. It’s not surprising. A cab to Anse Chastenet beach costs $80USD even though it’s close by.

Five of us adults in the family spent a fantastic week at Green Fig Resort. It has adventurous, relaxed vibes and still feels luxurious without being pretentious. We loved how the staff went out of their way to welcome us, suggest activities, and help with bookings. Since it’s small, we got to know the staff and other travelers, including guests from all over the world, which we enjoyed. The food was yummy, and the views of the Pitons from all around the hotel never got old. There’s even a tree house built off the restaurant and bar.
