Lime & Co Midi

The staff were very kind and even helped me arrange a room at short notice. The little hostel or hotel itself is lovely, and the rooms are cute, but being beside both the road and railway tracks makes it extremely noisy. I was okay with the fan above the bed, though air conditioning would have been welcome.

We came for four nights and stayed sixteen. The common area was a great place to spend time, with a pool, seating, chilled drinking water, a fridge and a kettle. Our comfortable, well-designed room had mosquito nets on the windows, so we could let air in without keeping everything shut. Surfing is easy to plan from here: Weligama is about five minutes away by scooter for beginner waves, Ahangama is about five minutes the other way for intermediate waves, and Midigama has intermediate and advanced spots too. There are also quiet beaches nearby and more a scooter ride away. Layan, Kumara and the rest of the team made us feel at home and helped with questions, recommending people for surf lessons, food, laundry and scooter hire. While we were there, 'Shack shack' opened on the property. Its burgers were amazing, and it also served oats and smoothie bowls for breakfast and tasty juices. They were building a foot spa that was due to open the day after we left, so I can't say how it turned out. The train passes right by, as it does at many places in Midigama, but it doesn't go by very often and earplugs are available. I'd recommend Lime & Co for learning to surf or staying between Ahangama and Weligama. For the price and quality, we didn't find a better place. We loved our stay, 10/10.

For 21 days I stayed at Lime & Co while doing my yoga teacher training course at Senses. I cycled to class every day on a bike I hired next door to Drifters, and the location also puts you across from a beautiful beach and the Lazy Left surf spot. Babas on the beach is worth a stop for a coconut. The team were all so friendly and helpful, including the lovely 24 7 security team. My room was very clean, and they offered fresh towels and room cleaning when needed. I also loved the creative towel designs. The kitchen has hot and cold water for tea, and the pool area is a nice place to relax. My one complaint is the noise. The train runs close by, sometimes loudly from 5 am, and traffic on the street is loud too.

I stayed two days and had a very good experience. Lazy Left beach is just across the road, and Plantation Beach is about a five to ten minute walk away. I hardly noticed the train behind the place. The nearby restaurant had good music and a nice atmosphere. Kumara was a very kind host, and the staff were helpful. Guests can use a kitchen and refrigerator, both very clean. There's no air conditioning, and the room gets a little warm early in the evening. There's a ceiling fan, and it cools off overnight.
