Samba Ahangama

The food was a highlight for us: delicious, well prepared, and worth the price. Our room was spacious, clean, and well maintained, and we had a very comfortable one-night stay. The location also made it easy to get to beaches, cafes, and other places around Ahangama. We were the only local guests that day, and the service we got was professional and excellent. I know there are concerns about some hotels treating locals differently, but that wasn’t our experience at Samba Ahangama. The staff were warm and supportive throughout. I’d happily recommend it to local and international travelers for the hospitality and value.

Akila, the manager, helped me find a place to stay at short notice when I needed somewhere to land. He was really friendly and helpful, and the rest of the staff were lovely too, always doing their best to accommodate what I needed. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning was the best I’ve had during my trip in Sri Lanka. I recommend it.

We felt welcome right away, and the hotel had a safe, relaxed atmosphere. The other guests were friendly and easy to chat with, which made it even nicer. The staff were the real highlight, always kind and ready with area tips or help whenever we needed it. After we got badly sunburned by accident, they brought us aloe vera leaves to soothe our skin. And when a cockroach got into our room, a staff member came in during the middle of the night and dealt with it quickly and calmly. We really appreciated how professional and thoughtful everyone was. The grilled prawns were delicious, and I really liked the creamy, flavorful chicken pasta. The grilled tuna was a bit overcooked, though. Still, I had a good meal at Samba Restaurant in Ahangama, with friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere. Worth a visit when you’re in Ahangama.
