We arrived around 8 PM with my wife and two kids, and the property felt deserted. Bentota gets dark and quiet after that, which made the situation especially frightening. There was nobody at reception, and no bellboy, service staff, or restaurant staff. About half an hour later, a visibly drunk man showed up and said he ran the whole place by himself, as chef, housekeeper, receptionist, and everything else. The next morning he served an average breakfast, which we ate because there wasn't another option. When we got back from sightseeing that evening, the room hadn't been cleaned. He casually said housekeeping wasn't done daily. There was no bed making, Wi-Fi, or toiletries in the room. This place lacks basic hospitality, safety, and professionalism. If you're travelling alone or with male friends, you might consider it, but with family or women it's absolutely miserable. Strong advice: stay away and book somewhere else for a peaceful, safe stay.

We enjoyed our three nights here. It's close to plenty of restaurants and public transport, good value for money, and the staff are friendly. I'd recommend it to backpackers or travellers looking for water sports.

The room had a lovely feel, was very clean, and looked out over the river. The decor blends modern and ethnic styles beautifully. Water stopped working for a couple of hours, but they managed to fix it. Pasan was attentive and made us feel well looked after. The location was convenient, and I really appreciated the stay. Definitely recommend 🙏

They claimed we had cancelled our reservation when we hadn't, leaving us to find somewhere else at the last minute. Then, when we actually had to cancel, they refused to refund us. The business practices felt deceitful and shady. Don't book or stay here.

Our room reservation was cancelled two days before we were due to arrive, supposedly "by accident." It feels like a scam. I'd advise people never to book here.
